What is Word Choice?

Ever flipped through a dictionary to define 'word'? According to Merriam-Webster, it's a speech sound or a sequence carrying meaning, indivisible into smaller standalone units.

But here's where it gets intriguing: once you embrace the idea that 'words have meaning,' you start to grasp why word choice is everything in the captivating world of poetry.

In poetry, the right words aren't just important; they're everything.

They're the ones that don't overuse clichés, dive into both literal and emotional meanings, speak with clarity, steer clear of jargon, and don't rely solely on a thesaurus to sound smarter.
